GamePort Teams

In the history of the incubator there have been four teams and projects so far: Ockham’s Razor, Team Tarsier with the City of Metronome, Squeaky Games with Crouching Spider and Quantum and now the latest team Monkey Business with Apeocalypse.

Ockham's Razor
Ockham’s Razor was the first concept created and brought into the incubator. Ockham’s Razor was perhaps a little too ambitious project to start out with considering team members also were active in building up the incubator.

The documentation of the world and storyline was thorough, however the production didn’t quite reach a "playable demo". Eventhough characters and content were shown in the demo the complete material produced wasn’t enough to create a strong enough pitch.

The concept and the prototype was nevertheless taken on a short pitch tour where it recieved some genuine interest, but unfortunately the team was not strong enough to carry on the development after the time in the incubator and the project was sadly put on ice.

City of Metronome
City of Metronome was the second concept developed within GamePort. During the summer 2004 Team Tarsier began the process of developing on their original game concept TIO and nine months later the City of Metronome was presented to the world.

At that point a beautiful playable demo on which the team of seven people had spent only 4 ½ months was put on display at E3 for publishers and press and the response was incredible.

“Metronome shows that next generation technology and originality can co-exist” /xbox official magazine

“The game everyone is talking about” /Super Play

Seeing the potential in the team the Incubator decided to keep supporting the team and in April 2006 a new game developer was born – Tarsier Studios.

Squeaky Games
Squeaky Games was the name of the third team accepted by the incubator. The team was initially invited to the incubator on the basis of their concept "No matter what" which could be described as a multiplayer party shooter.

As it turned out the team wasn't able to come together as a group with competence enough to engage in the development of No Matter What and for a while the future for the team was uncertain.

However, the Team had prior to entering the incubator produced a mobile game called Blowbo's Adventure and as they had more mobile concepts ready GamePort decided to give the team a new chance.

The team focused on the production of the game concepts "Crouching Spider" and "Quantum", both of which has been acknowledged. "Quantum" through receiving the award Best Mobile Game at the Swedish Games Awards and "Crouching Spider" being a finalist at the International Mobile Games Awards 2006.

The team is now out of the incubator and is currently developing the two games under the direction of a publisher.
Publisher and releasedates will be revealed at a later date.
